MS Michigan Man 64 Podcast

WARRIOR #36 - Karen - MS BADASS

Episode Notes

Welcome to Hail Media I'm Brian Wallace, MS Michigan Man 64, Left Tackle for Michigan Wolverines 1988-1991. This is where a former Wolverine gets real about life after football - battles you don't see coming and training that prepares us to take everything on!

Karen, from Florida, was diagnosed with MS in 2008 after experiencing numbness in her face and leg weakness.

When Karen was diagnosed with MS, she felt a whirlwind of emotions. Karen had been aware of MS through my mom's work with the MS Society, but hearing it for herself was surreal. Instead of letting it defeat her, Karen asked: "What does this mean for me?"

It's easy to get caught up in the physical challenges, but the mental battle is just as crucial. I learned that every morning is a new chance—some days are harder than others, but I choose to make each day count!

Finding support, whether from family or communities like MS Together We Help Each Other, has been a lifeline. We need to talk about mental health as much as our physical health. It’s a journey, and we’re not alone in this.

What’s your take on navigating these challenges? Let’s chat below!

We also want to call your attention to Football Alumni of Michigan - an organization that we care deeply about. Follow them here at ‪‪‪ ⁨@michiganfootballalumni⁩ . FAM is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to mental health and assisting former Michigan team members with life's struggles after football, whether they are mental or physical. Division 1 football at the level we played it is brutal, and not all players come out of it in one piece. Visit www.michiganfootballalumni.org for more info and to make a tax-deductible donation.
