MS Michigan Man 64 Podcast

WARRIOR #30 - Tasha - MS BADASS

Episode Notes

Welcome to Hail Media I'm Brian Wallace, MS Michigan Man 64, Left Tackle for Michigan Wolverines 1988-1991. This is where a former Wolverine gets real about life after football - battles you don't see coming and training that prepares us to take everything on!

Today I'm talking with Tasha from Utah, diagnosed with MS in 2021 but actually had symptoms back in 2003 that went undiagnosed for almost 20 years. Tasha explains how she was diagnosed with optic neuritis at the age of 17 but multiple sclerosis was never brought up.

Tasha explains how she had multiple MRI's leading up to her diagnosis but never the for the spine which is where her lesions were that took her ability to walk in 2020 leading to the MS diagnosis in 2021.

Tasha explains how she was told by doctors for almost 20 years that her symptoms were mental and not believing what she was telling them about her body.

We discuss what Tasha knew about MS and how she learned about her new diagnosis and the struggle she hsd getting medical professionals to help her.

We discuss her DMT journey with Mavenclad and how she had to go to the Cleveland Clinic for med management and how her body rejected multiple DMT's so her neurologist shut her down and she will start them back up soon.

We also discuss the importance of exercise and committing to finding ways to improve how your body feels.

We have an awesome discussion about the mental part of the journey and how we have developed ways to keep going.

We also talk about the importance of the chronic disease community and how we connect with other MSers on social media, especially those that don't have family support.
