MS Michigan Man 64 Podcast

WARRIOR #27 - Gina - MS BADASS

Episode Notes

Welcome to Hail Media I'm Brian Wallace, MS Michigan Man 64, Left Tackle for Michigan Wolverines 1988-1991. This is where a former Wolverine gets real about life after football - battles you don't see coming and training that prepares us to take everything on!

Today I'm talking with Gina from the UK, diagnosed with MS in 2009 but experienced symptoms ten years prior when she had numbness in her hands and feet. Gina went to doctors but was told it was stress related and didn't get an MRI until she advocated for herself and was told she had MS.

We talk about how she didn't understand MS but was relieved she didn't have a brain tumor because she knew she wouldn't die from MS.

We talk about her DMT journey and her decision to stop taking them in 2017 and take control of her journey.

Gina is now a life coach now helping others to customize their journey their way.

Exercise, meditation, stress management and coping tools are discussed and the importance of taking care of your mind.

We also talk about keeping your independence with various mobility aids.

FAM is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to mental health and assisting former Michigan team members with life's struggles after football, whether they are mental or physical. Division 1 football at the level we played it is brutal, and not all players come out of it in one piece. Visit www.michiganfootballalumni.org for more info and to make a tax-deductible donation.
