Today I'm talking with Jamie from Illinois, diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 18 and then diagnosed at 25 with MS in 2000. Right after graduating from high school, Jamie experienced a seizure that hospitalized her and she was diagnosed with epilepsy. Jamie was put on medication to help control her new condition and went on with life going to college and graduating. Soon after graduating and working a high paced job Jamie was diagnosed with MS.
We talk about stress and the role it played bringing out our disease and the journey of finding a doctor that will listen to us.
We talk about the decision of having a child after a diagnosis for men and women.
We talk about her medications for epilepsy and the path she took after her MS diagnosis.
Jamie gets very descriptive about explaining her seizures and how she has learned how to manage having multiple conditions
We talk about the mental health part of the journey and her support system of her husband, who has been going through the battle with her from day one, and her children who learned as they grew up.
We also have a great conversation about how we use marijuana to manage disease and the benefits we get using THC.
